Description:
Our medical programme runs Monday through to Friday, and you will be experiencing all the different facets of our project.
A typical week for a medical volunteer:
Monday – Outreach referral project
Tuesday – A morning at the health centre, followed by workshop preparation
Wednesday – Education workshop and Outreach referral
Thursday – A morning at the provincial hospital, followed by workshop preparation
Friday – Workshop for health centre staff.
Our project caters for all levels of medics, whether you are a med student, a nurse, doctor or specialist. We can tailor programmes to accommodate for your needs and level of expertise, and also cater for group volunteer placements. You will have a hands on experience, with direct contact with the local population. You will see Cambodia through a very unique perspective, seeing the charms of village life, and the smiling local populations who flock out to see the western medic that is in town. To the grim reality of the provincial hospital, all of which are eye opening experiences on many different levels. We can guarantee you a unique experience where you will learn about the culture of Cambodia, and their attitude towards medicine and how vastly different it is, to our perceptions of medicine in the Western World. By helping us educate the local population, you will make a lasting difference to the communities that we work with.
