Our objective is to organize International work camp and, mid term volunteer program, where both local and international volunteers offer their services for free, in collaboration with community groups or institutions in need of voluntary labour or service to empower community self-help initiatives. Our organization strives to support community own effort by actively participating in their development projects. Description: Pamoja International Voluntary Services is a local NGO registered in Kenya Internship opportunities for medical students in our rural local clinics and public hospitals. The medical students will be volunteer/intern in different locations and support will be given to them. Apply to Project Officer:-Melissa Mucami Application procedure is as follows: • Send your CV/Resume • Motivation letter • Passport copy of the first two pages • Current photo • Letter from your University if a student Non student /student will go round in different departments at the hospital – clinical medicine, obstetrics & gynecology, pediatrics, emergency medicine and critical care, general surgery, E.N.T, ophthalmology and radiology. This will helps you to understand real life exposure and integrating theoretical knowledge. You will follow the supervising doctors and or consultants to enable you draw and understanding of diverse aspects relating to cared of patients such as relevant history taking in various body systems, physical examination, relevant laboratory investigations and their interpretation, arriving at pertinent diagnosis and appropriate treatment measures. You will see several procedures in the clinical medicine and pediatric rotations, including administrations of various injections, lumbar punctures, insertion of intravenous cannulae, nasogastric intubation etc. You may observe in various general surgeries. Within gynecology department, you will be allowed to view various procedures, which may include normal deliveries, caesarean sections, e.t.c. Work is 8 hours a day, weekends are free. Accommodation and meals is at a selected host family, transport from Nairobi to the location is by public transport, Airport pick up is provided. Orientation will be done at Pamoja Office to explain to the volunteer to inform about Kenya, work, location, what is expected of you or what you expect from the hospital and all payments including commitment and program fee will be paid in the office during orientation.
